Nick: Well, why wouldn't he be committed to you? Why wouldn't he love you? Thanks to you, he's rich, he's famous, he's respected, he has a career, a credit rating, and nobody can take any of those things from him. But he's also committed to this kid, and that commitment is gonna grow just like his feelings for Bridget are gonna grow. Mother, come on, he's a simple guy. He wants what he wants, and he finds out who has it, and he falls in love with them in order to get it. And Bridget's gonna need someone, too, which is why I told her to go for it.......... Mother, I realize that... Owen was "it" for you, you know, the man you were meant to be with, your last stop. But it's his first stop. You took this kid, and you wiped his nose, and you knocked the little boy earwax out of his ears, and you dusted the sand off his surfer-dude butt, and you taught him how to live, how to talk, how to dress and how to love like a grown-up. But let's get real here, mother. Life's just beginning for him, and the life he wants is connected to Bridget and this baby and this ideal family that he has always dreamed of, and you better start facing that fact.

Our life together is real. And you may never accept it, but it doesn't make it any less true. Oh, and excuse me, as for your advice to Bridget to go for it with my husband, well, the least said about that, the better.
