Rick: Because I told you why. Because I wanted a future with her, okay? And we would never be accepted here. Ridge would not accept us here.

Eric: Well, because you were behind the wheel when Phoebe died. He held you responsible for that.

Rick: I--no, I was not responsible for that.

Eric: I know, but he does-- he holds you responsible. Oh, my God, Rick! He was still grieving for the death of his daughter, and you get involved with Steffy? You had to know how that would affect him... or was that the whole idea? You know, when--when-- when Ridge wanted to send you back to Paris, we stood by you. When you sent those designs over to Jackie M., I protected you. And now I find out you've been dishonest with me the whole time.

Rick: No, I haven't been dishonest. I just--I didn't give you-- I wasn't ready to give you the--the whole story. But I'm giving it to you now.

Eric: Yeah, because you've been caught. You've been lying to me the whole time.

Rick: No! No, I-- like I said, I wasn't ready to tell you the whole story. I wasn't lying when I said that I-I wanted a future, a career away from Ridge's disapproval. What I did not tell you at the time was that it wasn't just for me. It was for Steffy and me. I was doing it for us.

Eric: What?! What, have you actually convinced yourself that you betrayed your family for love? For Steffy?

Rick: Dad, you know, I thought you, that you of all people would understand that.

Eric: Well, I don't! This relationship can never be. God, I expected more of you, my boy.

Rick: Oh, I get it. So once again, you're putting Ridge above me. It's a great surprise.

Eric: All right, don't do that. Don't do that! You're not gonna pull this guilt trip on me again, never again. You and you alone are responsible for your actions here. God, it is so obvious, so obvious that your getting involved with Steffy here was all you could do to just get back at Ridge.

Rick: Oh, God, are you kidding me? You think I would go this far to get back at Ridge?

Eric: I think you would have to be blind not to see how this looks to everybody. First, there was Phoebe, and then--and then-- and then Taylor, and now Steffy? My God, Rick, you-- you looked me in the eye, and you promised me that you would not let this family down again, and you have. You let me down. You let me down, Rick. I don't see how it's possible that--that--that you and Ridge will work together again. I'm gonna pull together a meeting, and we can discuss your future at this company. But I have to tell you, it doesn't look too good right now.
