Kit: Well, Sam and I share everything.
Margo: Except, it seems, the security code for the alarm system.
Sam: They said there was a alarm, I didn't hear anything.
Margo: It's a silent alarm. It keeps the burglars from running away, so that we can catch them.
Sam: Well, that seems sort of underhanded to me.
Jack: Is this a joke?
Cowboy Jack: This ain't no joke. Maybe you need a lesson or two on how to talk to a pretty young lady.
Margo: Oh, that's not a lady. That's his wife. Ba-dum ching.
Cowboy Jack: Been my experience, when a fellow talks that way to a lady, means his six shooter ain't firing properly.
Jack: You think this is funny?
Carly: No, no. No, what I think is funny --
Jack: No, please tell me -- I'd love to know.
Carly: Well, I think it's -- it's sort of funny that I got a call from the station. I had to come down here, I thought it was bad news. Now bad news to me is that my son has been kidnapped, or that I'm going to die, or someone is holding a gun at my daughter. But when I found out that the big emergency is that I've been harboring a guy and his dummy, I get a little giddy, I'm sorry.
Carly: He said that the most important thing in the world to you is to be right. And to tell people what they ought to do.
Jack: I am not telling anyone what to do. Okay? It's your choice to have these people in your life. And it's my choice not to have these people in my kids' lives.
Carly: Why? Because he's a bad ventriloquist? Because they're losers? I'm a loser, too. I've lost everything. Even the pretense that I'm good enough for you. But I know that I am good enough for my children. And they will grow up knowing that, because there is good in me. And you know something? There's good in kit! And there's good in Sam! Maybe you don't know as much as you think you do!
Jack: Wow, I better rethink my life. If you and brad, moral beacons that you are, disapprove how I live --
Carly: Jack, our kids need both of us. Find some other way to punish me, something that doesn't involve them.
Jack: You think not letting those low-lives in my children's lives is punishing you?
Carly: Yeah. I think you're mad at me. No, I think you're mad at yourself for loving me.
Jack: Do you hear what you're saying? You're turning this whole thing around to be my fault!
