The End of an Era.....

Ever since I got the news of the cancellation of "As The World Turns," I
have been in total shock. Why in the world would the execs at CBS cancel our
beloved show? Now, I guess I can’t blame them, I mean if the audience for
this show is no longer there, then maybe they're doing the right
thing....BUT honestly I’m pissed off. I can’t help it, I have been watching
this show since I was seven years old, barely missing two shows a year. If
by some chance my VCR or now PVR did not record my show, my sister and I
would have a fit....haha you would think something explosive had occurred.
Personally, the show provides an hour a day, five hours a week for me to
completely relax and de-stress from everything that surrounds me. It’s great
to be able to invest yourself into the drama that is Oakdale and the lives
of its residents. I also love being able to bond with the many fans that
have loved this show for generations.
The thing I think I’m going to miss the most is Jack and Carly. They have
been my couple since day one. I fought for them to be together every step of
the way. While I didn’t agree with every single storyline, I admit that I
was also interested in what would go down. I have to say recently it’s been
nice seeing Jack chase Carly down, and for her to say no. In the end I would
love to see the two of them together, until then it would be nice to see the
old Carly come back swinging. I don’t want to see her lay down and take crap
from anyone (including Jack). Let’s see her stir up trouble and use some of
the men in Oakdale.
I have to say I’m loving what’s going on with Emily right now. It’s great
to see all of the drama that is surrounding her and Paul. By the end of the
show it would be nice to see her finally get the second chance at being a
mother, BUT I would also love to see Daniel come back to Oakdale. Like
honestly, where has the kid been for the past three years or so. I’m getting
tired of the show sending all of the kids away, and then forgetting that
they even existed in the first place. I’m ok with them sending the
youngsters away for a couple of months or so but age them up so they can be
involved in some interesting storylines.
I have to say the characters that I disliked the most had to be ‘Gwen and
Will.’ Will alone I can handle, but when they started to pair him with Gwen
I slowly began to lose interest in him. I hated how they made Gwen Carly’s
sister, and even more how everything was her fault. I’m not sure if it was
just the character or it was the actress herself, but something just didn’t
jive. I happily say that I have not missed her on the show one single bit!
I’ll admit it that I miss Will just a little bit. The craziness that is
Oakdale is going to be missed by fans all over the world. I am deeply
saddened by the fact that time is ticking away and soon "As The World Turns"
will no longer be on the air waves.
Good Bye Citizens of Oakdale...It’s been an AMAZING Run!!!
P.S. I will follow Maura West to whatever daytime show she joins
next!!
