DEL HENRY
PLAYED BY: Alec Musser (August 19, 2005 to Present)
Winsor Harmon (Feb. 1994 to Summer 1995)
Having won the second season of SOAPnet's "I Wanna Be a Soap Star" in
2005, Alec Musser joined the cast of All My Children in the role of Del
Henry, brother of Di and half-brother of Dixie who share a common father,
Seabone Hunkle. Armed with a sexy smile, Del Henry likes money almost
as much as he likes beautiful women. Despite his surface interests,
Del loves his family and is willing to go to great lengths to protect them.
In 1994, Del made his presence known to Dixie, who was shocked that her
father had a long-term affair and that she had a brother. After they became
close, Del revealed that he had a degenerative kidney disorder and needed a
transplant. Despite her husband Tad's strenuous objections, Dixie
agreed to give Del one of her kidneys which compromised her health for years
to come. Del thrived with Dixie's new kidney and his health returned.
Del encountered Maria Santos Grey, his college love with whom she had become
pregnant years before. Her miscarriage led to her problems conceiving
children. Despite the history between them, Maria was happily married
to Edmund Grey and did not renew her romance with Del.
Del, an author, met Kendall Hart while she was serving a jail term for
perjury. He agreed to help her write a tell-all book on her estranged
mother, Erica Kane. Although the book wasn't published, Del and
Kendall fell in love, became engaged, and left for her home state of
Florida. Eventually the two broke up and Del's health began to fail
him again. Learning he had a sister, Di Kirby, who was given away at
birth, Del found her and asked for one of her kidneys. Di agreed and
the transplant was a success. During the preparation and recovery period,
Del told Di all about her half-sister Dixie.
In 2005, Del was shocked to see that Di had come to Pine Valley claiming
to be Dixie and threatened to expose her. After she begged Del to keep
her secret, he agreed and decided to stay around Pine Valley. Always
happy to surround himself with the finer things, he began spending time with
rich and single Opal Cortlandt. He was shocked when Dixie returned to
town, very much alive but was saddened when she was murdered many months
later.
He works as a bartender at ConFusion and lives at Wildwind with Di and
friends.
