Our Business Plan
PLEASE NOTE: The site's main purpose it
to be a valuable net resource. We do not anticipate that we will
ever make enough money to hire employees.
Since July 2003, we have started making more money on
advertising, which pays for the site's hosting costs and for
some extra cash for volunteers at Christmas. This is
really great and more than we expected, but it's not enough to
be a successful business. We may someday sell the
site to an interested investor, if the price is right... This business statement encompasses a range of purposes and goals
for The TV MegaSite including;
· History
· Organizational environment
· The nature of the product or service
· The market for the product or service
· Future goals, such as growth and development
History:
The TV MegaSite originated due to the ever growing popularity of
television. Shows such as Buffy the Vampire Slayer, ER, Days of
Our Lives and Young and the Restless have provided us with a
foundation to inform and entertain the public on various shows.
The TV MegaSite is the creation of Suzanne Lanoue and Amanda Davis, who first
merged their two popular web sites and then created TVMegaSite on
its own domain (tvmegasite.net ). Suzanne believed that a niche
that was already in existence in the market for an online web site
dedicated to soaps and primetime television was great, but this
format could be expanded - an internet media made and produced by
dedicated volunteers. A new dimension that would take the idea one
step further.
There are many magazines dedicated to television shows, but
millions of people worldwide who surf the internet, probably are
fans of most of the shows - shows which are seen worldwide. The
internet is an ever-growing form of media, and TV MegaSite has
filled that niche and will continue to grow and develop in order
to set the highest possible standards.
Organizational Environment:
With the low overhead of having volunteers work in their own homes,
with the added benefit that they are working on something fun that they
enjoy (as a work incentive), and with content we create ourselves, we
can't help but make a profit with advertising, as long as we get many
hits.
Suzanne has spent a lot of time learning HTML and MS FrontPage,
but the site still feels more like a fan site than a "real" business.
All of the volunteers on this site work hard and have a lot
of entertainment knowledge. They hope to make this site fun for
everyone and add people to our team those who are more
knowledgeable than us, and also who will add to the "fun"! We are
grateful for whatever time and help they can give.
At the present time we have about 15 people who have direct access
to the site, but that figure will continue to grow over time. We
hope that those who know html, FrontPage, or some other html
editor, can then do the work on their own PC's and then just send
it to us. We will never ask more than they can give. We currently
have a team of approximately 50 volunteers who do part time work
for us. We would eventually like to pay them, but we don't know if
that is a realistic goal as of yet.
We are hoping to move to a Content Management System, so that
volunteers have more access to the site and don't need to learn
Frontpage.
While Amanda is no longer involved with management of the site, she
still works on it as a volunteer. Gisele, Boo, Thane and others help
Suzanne run things on the site daily.

GOALS AND OBJECTIVES:
The TV MegaSite has already achieved numerous goals and
objectives.
Suzanne has established the web site which provides fans with an
insight into various television shows, with emphasis on daytime
television, and links to all primetime and daytime show sites.
We pride ourselves on the fact that we have linked to almost every
soap opera page on the Internet. Not many people on the net can
say they have achieved such a feat, but we have. We are currently
working on having quality links to every primetime TV show that is
represented on the Net, and then we will build our own content for
many more primetime shows.
We have created various celebrity sites and daytime soap sites, as
well as a thriving contest page. This shows that TV MegaSite is continually
developing new projects.
The TV MegaSite has made the leap into getting our own domain name,
something recognizable to all fans,
http://tvmegasite.net/ This is
a huge step, and TV MegaSite today and in the future will continue
to prove itself in quality. We have also added tvmeg.com and
tvfans.net, one of which may be our new primary URL in the future (since
they are shorter and easier to remember).
Short Term Goals:
Our short term goals are numerous. One of our goals is to improve
the existing pages and to fix broken links, and to build up the
various sections so that eventually, we will have every TV show
linked to our site. We also want to generate new ideas pertaining
to the various daytime pages such as new graphics, puzzles and
other fun stuff.
Other important short term goals which have been established are
to receive more hits to our web site, and to promote ourselves on
other web sites, search engines, and even in soap opera magazines.
Finally, we hope to get more volunteers to help us grow and
achieve these goals. People are our greatest asset and we hope
that we can attract people who love television just as much as we
do.
Medium Range Goals:
We have a new investor that will help us get a new and
professional design for the site, as well as promote the site more and
attract more investors.
Long Term Goals:
These long term goals will set us up for the future. We hope to
continue to make more profits for the site and increase those profits
for all of us..
Finally, we wish to run this site as a profit - business (making
profit through advertising) such as magazines and other internet web
sites and search engines. However, our main goal is to create a valuable
net resource.
To accomplish the above goals we will:
* Strive to maintain an organization that attracts, motivates
and rewards outstanding staff and imbues them with pride. To place
authority and accountability as close to the consumer as possible.
* Ensure integrity guides all company actions. Intensify efforts
to improve management and the product. Understand and commit to
equal employment and affirmative action laws. Help support the
industry in which we promote.
* Strengthen our portfolio and recognize the general public views
and preferences which our reasons for being in existence.
* To work closely with other individuals and the industry itself
to deliver the truth and facts, and not to discriminate. To
participate equally in the development of TV MegaSite to make it
the number 1 television site.
As a result of the aforementioned, our goals and objectives will
continue to grow. When organizational, individual and team
activities have been completed, new goals and objectives will be
formed in order to stay competitive within the market. We will act
in a fair manner to deliver an honest and productive product.
